David Yassky - News: "Whenever the City allows a building to be converted from industrial use to another use, such as residential, the value of the property rises dramatically. Displaced businesses then have a hard time finding affordable, quality spaces in the City. Over the last 10 years, New York City has lost 100,000 manufacturing jobs due in large part to the Citys conversion policies. Since City policy creates this wealth, Yassky suggests that some be devoted to the businesses that are displaced, and invested in areas that remain devoted to manufacturing to keep good jobs in New York.
